Climate Policy Workshop | February 12th | 5:30- 7:00 PM at Bath City Hall Auditorium Peter Dugas, New England Coordinator for the Citizens Climate Lobby (CCL) will present on current legislative proposals for the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and evaluate their effectiveness and political viability. This presentation will leave you with a better understanding of how we address the complicated international climate crisis as well as providing hope that solutions are possible. This presentation will also include a demonstration of the EN-ROADS Climate Simulator created by MIT’s Sloan School of Management. |
Climate Action Plan Update: Maine Climate Council | January 8 | 5:30- 7:00 PM at Patten Free Library Learn from a representative of the Maine Climate Council about how the state’s Climate Action Plan is being implemented and about the five-year review updates and changes to the Climate Action Plan that were completed by the Maine Climate Council in November. Maine created its first Climate Action Plan with ambitious goals and actions in 2019. We’ll hear about what progress has been made toward goals, the actions that are most successful so far, and the path for actions for the future, and we’ll discuss ways our community can and is helping to work toward those goals. Improving the air sealing, insulation, or performance of our homes can help us ride out longer power outages and more drastic weather. In this session, we will talk about how to renovate and maintain our homes in response to the climate impacts we are seeing in Maine now. The discussion will also cover choices that can be considered to reduce the climate impact of the materials we choose and the extent of the renovation we take on. |
